In PQFORCE, resources are data objects with defined availabilities that can be scheduled for tasks in various projects, resulting in so-called allocations. While human resources are typically considered, PQFORCE defines a broader range of resource types.
In the Smart edition, available resource types include organisational units (depicted as boxes in the organisational chart) and employees (categorised as managers, employees, and trainees within units). An organisational unit's workload is the sum of its contained employees' workloads plus the generic workload of the unit itself - as it can be generically scheduled for tasks.
For example, an organisation with one (1) company, three (3) departments, and ten (10) employees per department would require thirty-four (34) resources. The Smart edition accommodates 50 resources and is therefore suitable for this scenario.
Other PQFORCE editions feature additional resource modules and types, such as Facilities, Rooms, Vehicles in the Infrastructure Resource Module and Skills in the Skill Management Module. The Enterprise edition enables configuring custom resource modules and types.
